  1. Can I install the FJ Cruiser Bajaracks myself?

If you can read instructions; loosen and tighten bolts; apply some RTV silicone sealant; and have a friend who can help you lift the rack onto your roof, then you can install it yourself! Installation time is less than 1 hour and there is no drilling.

  1. What do I need to be concerned about regarding removal of FJ OEM rack and installation of a BajaRack roof rack?

First, know that the threaded inserts (located in the white tubes that protrude from the FJ roof) in the FJ Cruiser roof can be dislodged with downward force or torque. So, do NOT press downward (toward the roof) when removing or tightening bolts, and LOOSEN bolts before removal. Second, we suggest that you apply an RTV silicone sealant in the gap between the roof and white plastic tubes, and on the roof bolt threads to prevent leaking.  (We provide grease to be used only on bolts that are screwed into lock nuts to prevent seizing).

  1. How tall will my vehicle be with my BajaRack?

Height information can be found in the Technical Specifications section for each rack.  All of our FJ Cruiser roof racks are the same height or lower than the factory OEM rack/rails!

  1. Can I attach a rooftop tent (RTT) on my BajaRack.

Yes, you can attach a RTT on any full size BajaRack FJ Cruiser roof rack (NOT the FJ OEM basket for use with the FJ Cruiser factory rack/rails).  If the rack has a flat section, you can use either the RTT mfr. attachment plates or use the BajaRack Tent Plates.  If you are choosing a full-size basket rack, then you will need to attach crossbars across the top of your Bajarack and then attach the RTT to them. You can use almost any aftermarket crossbars with such connecters as Yakima Rail Grabbers, Low rider towers, etc.

  1. Can I get mesh floor instead of tubing floor? What about a cutout for my satellite radio (shark fin) antenna?

Yes, we can do a SFA (shark fin antenna) cutout for a small charge. We have mesh floor options included on our website, but if you do not see it, just email us at sales@BajaRack.com and we will let you know if it is available and at what cost.
